I am posting this chapel address by Dr. Hudson T. Armerding at Wheaton College from November 15, 1996, primarily, because of how he prays at the beginning (4:55 to 5:53). Please note especially how he prays from 5:30 to 5:46. He prays “. . . that I might be able to speak so in tune with your blessed Holy Spirit that what I have to say will be that which will be well pleasing in your sight . . . .” That is a profound prayer, which God clearly answered, as Dr. Armerding went on to preach with divine power.
It always moves me when a preacher understands that these wonderful categories of God-centered thought and spiritual aspiration exist and matter.
